Message from Tla’amin Executive Council and Health Director
Eh Kwa’A’Nuns Kye’A’Mieux – when the people in our community are well again, all around us will also be well
(April 19, 2021)
Tla’amin Nation reports a total of one (1) active COVID-19 case in community with several members cleared from isolation.
Over the weekend there was a residence that did not comply with the Provincial Health Orders and exercised unsafe Covid-19 behavior. As a result, a fine of $570.00 was issued by the RCMP.
By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), all events and gatherings are suspended, unless they have an exemption. People and businesses can be issued a violation ticket for non-compliance.
Public Health Order on Gatherings:
• No indoor social gatherings of any size at your residence with anyone other than your household or, if you live alone, your core bubble. For example:
• Do not invite friends or extended family inside your residence or vacation accommodation
• Do not host a party or event inside your house
• Continue to use COVID-19 layers of protection and maintain physical distancing.
“All of us need to stay the course and refrain from participating in social gatherings, inside or outside. The RCMP will not hesitate to issue a ticket for violating the PHO’s restrictions on gatherings,” explained Hegus, John Hackett. Executive Council and Health recognizes all our community’s efforts this past week.
The curfew is still in effect from 9:00 pm – 6:00 am. Only people that need to go to work or obtain medical attention or supplies will be permitted to leave their property during these hours. The community remains closed to visitors, with the exception of couriers, mail, designated contactors for home repairs, and food deliveries from grocery stores or restaurants.
