Tla’amin Nation is seeking an individual to fill the position of Citizen Registrar(CR).  The CR will facilitate the process for individuals who apply for status membership and/or Tla’amin Nation citizenship. This is a permanent, f/t position working 50% in membership and 50% in citizenship.    

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accepts applications for membership or citizenship
  • Establishes an effective record-keeping and event reporting system for documents received monthly
  • Writes & submits reports on all monthly events
  • Verifies correct information and that all necessary information/documentation is properly submitted 
  • Vets application to ensure applicants meet eligibility criteria
  • Works collaboratively with relevant departments to clarify lineage and family tree for citizenship eligibility purposes
  • Communicates with the Indian Registry Administrator for other Bands or Nations to clarify pertinent information and share documentation submitted to Tla’amin re:  application 
  • Reviews all monthly change reports for membership to ensure accurate information is entered into IRA system 
  • Reports to IRA in timely manner ensuring Nation has sufficient status cards for future applications
  • Presents citizenship applications to citizenship committee to determine eligibility 
  • Processes applications and issues membership or citizenship cards if approved 
  • Ensures utmost confidence with information and documentation received from applicants

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trained/certified by IRA (or willingness to do so)
  • Experience working with indigenous client base
  • Understanding of Tla’amin cultural practices, language & protocols
  • Proficient computer skills (ie MS Office)
  • Good communication/conflict resolution/stress management skills
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality
  • Successful criminal record check (also known as Police Information Check)
