The Tla’amin Nation is a modern, self governing First Nation located on the upper Sunshine Coast. As the Nation grows, and as a deliverable of the Nation’s Comprehensive Nation Plan, we are seeking a qualified consultant to assist in the development of a Recreation Program.
Overseen by: Director of Community Services
Details: You would be responsible for developing a wholistic Recreation Program offering recreation, social and cultural programs to all Tla’amin people. This would include, but not be limited to:
o Cultural learning: dance, music, plant identification & gathering etc.
o Outdoor education
o Before and after school activities
In developing a program that addresses the existing and future needs of the Nation you would be expected to:
Assess the availability and usage of existing services and facilities
Partner with the City of Powell River to potentially offer additional programming targeted to Tla’amin people
Review existing facilities and outdoor areas that may support the programming
Liaise with Public Works regarding existing and planned community facilities
Provide ideas and estimates related to potential options for services and programming, capital costs, ongoing costs, timelines, human resource requirements and other factors that you deem pertinent
