qathet Regional District, Tla’amin Nation, and City of Powell River Activate Regional Emergency Operations Centre
Powell River, B.C. – On Thursday, March 19, 2020, qathet Regional District, Tla’amin Nation, and City of Powell River activated the Regional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to monitor the COVID-19 situation.
Following advice from the Provincial Health Officer, local authorities have engaged business continuity plans, and limited or closed public access to local facilities. Following the Provincial Declaration of State of Emergency on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, the three local authorities activated the Regional EOC per our Regional Emergency Plan. The EOC will be in operation during normal business hours from 8:30 to 4:30, Monday through Friday.
At level 1, the EOC will be continuously monitoring the COVID-19 situation, assisting provincial health authorities as requested, and informing the public.
