Message from Tla’amin Executive Council
(May 20th, 2021)
Tla’amin Nation Executive Council is relieved to announce that effective immediately the 11:00 pm – 6:00 am curfew is now lifted.
The Tla’amin Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will be de-activated today. In the event of another outbreak in Tla’amin, the EOC is prepared to re-activate.
“Executive Council would like to recognize Tla’amin for complying with our directives and being patient while we dealt with the recent Covid-19 wave and variants,” said Hegus John Hackett. “As a result, we are now in a position to remove the curfew and de-activate our Emergency Operations Centre.”
These are Tla’amin Executive Council decisions which do not override Provincial Wide Health Orders and Restrictions.
Gentle Reminders
• The community remains closed to non-residents, other than staff, contractors, and restaurant, medication and food deliveries.
• Patrols will continue.
• No garbage burning. Only clean brush burning at a size of 1M x 1M, so it’s not a massive brush burn. Stay away from structures and overhead obstructions. Don’t leave your burn pile unattended, and always have a charged water hose, bucket, shovel and dirt ready to knock it down.
• Please continue to follow signage at the playgrounds, soccer fields and trails.
With the May long weekend around the corner, we remind you of the travel restrictions that are in effect.
Dr. Bonnie Henry stated “Do not travel beyond your community remains in place everywhere in BC, but we need to do more to discourage travel. The travel restrictions order has been enacted to restrict non-essential travel outside of neighboring health authorities until May 25, 2021 at midnight. Those in violation of the Order may be subject to a $575 fine.”
Please continue to be kind to one another and remain vigilant as we continue to safeguard our nation. Continue to practice physical distancing while you are outside, wear your mask, and continue to remain within your household bubble of family you reside with. Don’t forget to wash and sanitize your hands frequently.
