In just a little over a week, all our ǰɛǰɛ will be putting on our “comfy” pants to enjoy October long weekend festivities.
To support all Tla’amin families, our food programs have been hard at work purchasing, storing and preparing the xɛčič [hyx-cheech] (Fall) food bundles.
Near the end of the season, Tla’amin purchased a small batch of whole sockeye that were flash-frozen at -40°C immediately after being caught to preserve their freshness and quality. Each household will receive 5 whole sockeye as part of this xɛčič distribution.
Here is everything Tla’amin people near and far need to know.
Urban Tla’amin
In lieu of a turkey and trimmings, each Urban Tla’amin household may access a $50 direct deposit to help with your seasonal holiday meal.

On November 14 and 15, a xɛčič Traditional Food Bundle including fish, game meat, blackberry jam, herring roe on kelp and will be delivered to Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Please save these dates, more information on exact pick-up locations will be available at the beginning of November.

Tla’amin in t̓išosəm & qathet
The Good Food Box for October will be earlier on October 6 and will include the xɛčič Traditional Food Bundle distribution at ʔɛɬtanmot ʔayɛ (Traditional Food House) from 10 am to 3 pm and is open this month to all Nation citizens.
Each Bundle will contain:
- A turkey
- Fresh cranberries, ingredients and a recipe for making cranberry sauce.
- Fresh vegetables, milk, butter, bread, eggs, and bake your own biscuit mix.
- Whole frozen sockeye
Staff will be on site at the ʔɛɬtanmot ʔayɛ (Traditional Food House) to help direct traffic flow for pick up.
