Information Session & Community Engagement
Tuesday, April 12th at 6:00 pm — online
As climate change occurs, many coastal communities, including our region, are recognizing the impacts
from increasing flood and erosion risk due to storm surge and future sea level rise.
To address this risk, Tla’amin Nation is working together with the
qathet Regional District and the City of Powell River to engage the
community on coastal flood adaptation through development of the
Regional Coastal Flood Adaptation Strategy. The three governments
are working with two consulting firms, Ebbwater Consulting and
SHIFT Collaborative to complete this project.
This spring, we are gathering feedback on the impacts of climate
change along the shoreline and what can be done to adapt and build
resilience. Community engagement is an important value guiding this
work to ensure transparency and enhance our collective understanding
of risks facing our shoreline and options for addressing them.
