Job Posting – Tla’amin Management Services LP

As we continue to build a culture of transparency and accountability at Tla’amin Management Services TMSLP (formerly Sliammon Development Corporation), we are looking for an Elder-in-Residence from the Tla’amin Nation to join our leadership team.

Position: Resident Elder (1-year rotating term)

What is the job about?

Working closely with the leadership team at TMSLP, the Resident Elder will:
• attend quarterly team meetings, AGM’s, and other gatherings to celebrate and drive team engagement
• provide historical and cultural context in discerning new business opportunities to ensure alignment with the nation’s past and future economic development goals
• conduct prayers, ceremonies and guide acknowledgement and adherence to the nation’s cultural protocols
• help to create safe spaces for team members to express concerns and constructive feedback
• occasionally assist in mediation of irreconcilable differences and misperceptions among team members
• assist in integration of new employees as they transition to new work environments
• help to encourage and empower nation members with barriers to employment
• encourage and mentor management to move at the pace of trust

What qualifications do I need for the job?
The ideal Resident Elder will:
• have working knowledge of the Tla’amin language and cultural protocols
• be a respected member of the community in good standing
• reside within the traditional territories of Tla’amin Nation
• be able to travel to the TMSLP businesses; rides will be arranged for elders who do not have their own transportation

How long is the job for?
• 1-year term rotating term

Is there pay?
• Yes. It will be on an honorarium grid to be determined.
When do I have to apply by and how is selection made?
• June 12 will be the last day to apply and the most elderly qualified candidate will be selected to fill the position.
