
A School Trustee by-election will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 to elect three (3) trustees to represent the Board of Education of School District 47 (Powell River) for the balance of the four year term ending November 2022.

GENERAL VOTING will be open to qualified electors of School District No. 47 following locations:
• Westview Elementary School, 3900 Selkirk Avenue
• James Thomson Elementary School, 6388 Sutherland Avenue
• Kelly Creek Community School, 2341 Zilinsky Road
ADVANCE VOTING will be available to qualified electors as follows:
Wednesday, April 14, 2021 and Wednesday, April 21, 2021
between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm

ELECTOR REGISTRATION
There is no need to pre-register to vote, as the registration of all electors for this election will take place at the time of voting. You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:
• 18 years of age or older on general voting day
• Canadian citizen
• resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding the day of registration
• resident of OR registered owner of real property in School District No. 47 (Powell River) Trustee
Electoral Area for at least 30 days immediately preceding the day of registration, and
• not otherwise disqualified by the School Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or
otherwise disqualified by law.
Resident electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.
Non-resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the majority of the property owners.
MAIL BALLOT VOTING
Due to COVID 19, ALL eligible voters may apply to vote by mail in this By-election.
REQUESTING A MAIL BALLOT PACKAGE:
Before 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 22, 2021, you must submit the following information to the Chief Election Officer:

- Full name
- Residential address
- Address of the property in relation to which you are voting (for non-resident property electors), and
- Method of delivery of your mail ballot package:
(a) Pick up at Powell River School Board Office, or
(b) Regular letter mail through Canada Post to residential address, or
(c) Regular mail through Canada Post to an alternate address that you provide when requesting the ballot package.
The Chief Election Officer will send out mail ballot packages commencing on or about April 1, 2021.
To be counted, all mail ballots must be returned to the Chief Election Officer at the School Board Office, 4351 Ontario Avenue, no later than 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
