Weekly collection and responsible waste handling in the community
Tla’amin Nation Public Works provides weekly roadside garbage collection and supports residents in managing waste safely and responsibly.
Garbage Collection
Pickup day: Fridays
(If there is a holiday or closure, an alternate pickup day will be posted.)
Set-out time:
Have garbage out by 7:45 AM on collection day.
Avoid placing garbage out the night before.
How to Prepare Your Garbage
- Use tied, sealed garbage bags only
- Avoid overfilling bags (to prevent tearing)
- Place bags inside a durable bin or container with a lid
- Clean up any loose waste
This helps prevent issues with ravens, bears, and other wildlife.
Collection Areas & Timing
Garbage is collected Fridays. (If there is a holiday or closure, an alternate pickup day will be posted.)
- Southview leased lands: ~8:15 AM
- Northside (Salish, River, Klahanie, Waterfront): ~9:00 AM
- Southside (Eagle, Harwood, Homalco, Beach): ~1:00 PM

Recycling & Compost
At this time, recycling and compost are not collected roadside.
Residents can use the qathet Regional District depot:
📍 4885 Salish Drive (outside the Salish Centre)
Visit the qRD website for accepted materials and hours.
Community Garbage Bins
Community bins are available between collection days.
- Household garbage only
- No large items (e.g. furniture)
- All waste must be bagged and tied
- No liquids or hazardous materials
