The 50th Annual BC Elders Gathering themed “Standing Side by Side,” takes place August 25-26, 2026, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The two-day gathering brings together thousands of Elders and family members each year.
This year’s gathering marks a major milestone, the 50th anniversary of the BC Elders gathering. Tla’amin Elders planning to attend the BC Elders Gathering are eligible to have their conference registration covered along with a $500 travel subsidy.
Community Services Director Losa Luaifoa says “We hope many Elders will take advantage of this opportunity to catch up with jehjeh from other Nations and take part in the many workshops and entertainment provided. We look forward to supporting your participation and to seeing Tla’amin represented proudly at the Grand Entry.”
Members of Tla’amin Nation’s culture team will be onsite to lead the Tla’amin Grand Entry. Please bring your drums and regalia if you are planning to attend.
Elders and their families are asked to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. This gives citizens the flexibility to choose the travel plans and accommodations that work best for them.
Tla’amin Nation will support each Elder with a total of $1150
- $650 for conference registration and
- $500 travel subsidy to help with ferry and fuel costs.
Receipts are not required for reimbursement. However, for those who register and are unable to attend, Tla’amin will recoup the $500 travel subsidy from future disbursements.
Registration deadline is July 17, 2026.
