John Hackett Hegus (Chief)
John Hackett was born and raised within Tla’amin Territory and resides in the t̓išosəm community. He attended Nicola Valley Institute of Technology from 2002-2004 to complete the Natural Resource Technology Diploma Program. Upon completion he joined Sliammon Treaty Society to develop the Tla’amin Wildlife Harvest Plan to support Tla’amin’s Land and Water Use Plan. He also observed hands-on negotiations between Tla’amin Nation and the Provincial and Federal Governments. In 2006, he transitioned to the Tla’amin Forestry Department to manage the Nation’s woodlot, and in 2006 he was elected to Council for our Nation. He held this seat for 14 years till 2020, when he was elected as Hegus of Tla’amin Nation, a position he holds today.
Erik Blaney Legislator
Erik Blaney was born and raised in Tla’amin and has been very active in his culture while growing up where his ancestors have lived since time immemorial. This is Erik’s second term as a Legislator, a role he is honoured to serve. Many in the community may know Erik through his role as a First Responder and Fire Chief for the community. He has also been very involved in Economic Development for the Nation. Erik spent seven years on the Economic Development Board for the Nation and served as Sliammon Development Corporation’s last President.
Dillon Johnson Executive Council
Dillon is a Tla’amin Citizen and was raised in t̓ išosəm. He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business and is a Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM). He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UVic. Dillon is serving his fifth term as an elected leader and is the House Post for Public Works and Capital Infrastructure. He encourages and supports all of the Housing, Water, Wastewater, Asset Management, Capital Infrastructure and Development works.
Losa Luaifoa Executive Council
Losa is a Tla’amin Citizen with two decades of executive experience in First Nation and municipal governments. Formerly executive secretary at the city of Surrey and Tsawwassen Nation, Losa is the Executive Council member responsible for Finance and Administration. She serves on Finance and Economic Development Committees.
Callum Galligos Executive Council
Born and raised in Tla’amin, Callum Galligos started his career working in various roles in commercial and industrial construction. In 2017, Callum started his professional career as an associate quantity surveyor with a consultant firm in Victoria, BC, which involved providing fair market value construction estimates to project owners and engineering companies. In 2021, Callum transitioned to the Tla’amin Nation Government, initially serving as the Building Maintenance Coordinator, before being promoted to the Asset Manager, and now Director of Public Works, a role he still fills today. Recently appointed as Lands and Resource House Post, Callum looks forward to applying his knowledge of the Tla’amin government and passion for his community to support sustainable development and stewardship of Tla’amin lands.
Gloria Francis Legislator
Gloria Francis has served the Tla’amin Community as a Legislator and member of Council for 24 years. Francis is originally from Church House and has worked in tourism and early childhood development. She is passionate about the role of sport in promoting Tla’amin wellness and culture and is a champion for youth athletes. In her current position as Legislator, she is dedicated to being a voice and an advocate for all Nation members.
Brandon Louie Executive Councillor
Brandon Louie was born and raised in t̓ išosəm and is a project manager and Red Seal trained carpenter. He is a member of Tla’amin Management Services Holdings Board and has had the privilege of working on many projects aimed at enhancing Tla’amin living spaces and fostering pride among residents. His hands-on experience and technical expertise equip him for his responsibilities as House Post for Community Services, a broad portfolio including Health Services, Child and Family programming, Food Security, Social Development, and more. Guided by family, culture, and ta?ow, Brandon deeply values hard work, respect, dedication, and community service. Brandon is currently pursuing his Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
Brandon Peters Legislator
Brandon Peters was born and raised in the Tla’amin community, and has been active in Tla’amin’s culture and politics from an early age. Brandon is currently serving his second term as an elected member of the Tla’amin legislature. He is the curriculum consultant with the Vancouver School Board, where he passes on teachings and skills he’s amassed from his time living in t̓ išosəm, and from Elders and his parents. Brandon believes in Tla’amin’s inherent power as an essential entity and authority here on the traditional lands of his family and ancestors.
Tanner Timothy Legislator
Tanner Timothy, who carries the ancestral name nənqəm, is a Tla’amin citizen born and raised in t̓ išosəm. nənqəm holds a B.A in Geography from Trinity Western University as well as a post graduate Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from British Columbia Institute of Technology. For nearly a decade, nənqəm has worked at the intersection of Indigenous governance, Rights and Title, land stewardship, and public administration. His professional focus has centered on helping Indigenous Nations strengthen decision making through spatial technologies while supporting sustainable land management, cultural preservation, traditional land use planning, heritage protection, and long-term community development. nənqəm also serves as Vice Chairman of the Islands Trust Conservancy supporting governance, ecosystem preservation, environmental protection, master planning, and Indigenous collaboration.
